The Corner ‘The Exclaim! EP’ (album stream)

January 27, 2015

Toronto indie rock outfit the Corner are putting the finishing touches on their debut album Note to an Escapist, but the band have shared a special Exclaim!-exclusive EP in advance of the forthcoming full-length.

Since forming in 2011, the band teamed up with industry pros like Alex Bonenfant (Crystal Castles, METZ) and John Drew (Fucked Up, Tokyo Police Club) for their debut EP and recently completed recording their debut album with Jace Lasek of the Besnard Lakes.

But for The Exclaim! EP, the band are showcasing a different side to their sound. It features four tracks, opening with “Even When You’re Low (Dakota remix),” which was reworked by their friend Kenny Cotton into a “dirty disco” number. Singer Matt Oh says they’re “happy with the variety so far,” and maybe only half-jokingly suggested doing a country take on it next…

The Corner – “Even When You’re Low” video

December 19, 2014

Proving that no environment is too harsh for rock’n’roll, Toronto indie outfit the Corner have shared a video for their song “Even When You’re Low.”

In the Ander Shinova-directed clip, the band perform the melodic rock anthem in the middle of a prairie that stretches as far as the eye can see, and there’s not even any plugs handy for their instruments. Some other shots show the Corner waste deep in a river.

Meanwhile, a mustachioed man who looks a bit like he wandered out of a retro costume party emerges from a lake and hikes through the wilderness carrying a mysterious key inside of a cage, and the band ultimately get pelted with various liquids, powers and foods.
